Our story
FreePDFCompress was founded on 25 June 2025 by Mohit Girdhar, an independent web developer based in Hisar, Haryana, India.
The idea came from a personal frustration: every time Mohit needed to compress a PDF for a government form, an exam upload, or a job application, the existing free tools had at least one of three problems — they uploaded the file to a remote server (privacy risk for KYC and ID documents), they added a watermark to the output, or they capped you at 2 free compressions per day.
FreePDFCompress was built to solve all three problems at once: browser-based (your PDF never leaves your device), watermark-free (the output is clean), and unlimited (no daily caps, no signup, no email).

- 100% browser-based: we use JavaScript (PDF.js + jsPDF) to compress PDFs directly inside your browser. Your file never touches our servers.
- No watermark: ever. Most "free" PDF compressors stamp a watermark on the output. We don't.
- No signup: open the page, drop your PDF, download the compressed version. Zero friction.
- Exact MB targeting: pick 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB, 5 MB, or any custom MB target — not vague "low / medium / high".

🔒 Privacy is the product
The single biggest reason FreePDFCompress exists is privacy. When you upload an Aadhaar scan, a salary slip, or a medical record to a third-party server "just to compress it", you have no way to know what happens to that file afterward. With FreePDFCompress, the file is processed in your browser — there is literally nothing for us to leak.

How we make money
FreePDFCompress is funded entirely by display advertising (Google AdSense and similar networks). Ads on the site help us keep the tool 100% free for everyone, with no signup, no daily limits, and no watermark. We do not sell user data, run affiliate funnels, or charge for any feature.
